Everyone ELSE Looks Just Right

September 29, 2018

“You must be the trip leader,” says Bill to me at the Southwest curbside check-in.

“We all have our roles,” I say. “How’d you know?”

“The way you marched right up here. Most people avoid me. They don’t think we know what we’re doing out here.”

“Oh, I’m grateful for what you do,” I say, wrestling my pack off my back and looking into the terminal behind him where lines stretch long to the airline kiosk.

We need luggage tags, and I stretch on my tiptoes to be able to write my contact info on the blanks. “This counter isn’t made for someone my size,” I remark.

He chuckles. “Me neither.” I take my focus off my writing and really look at his height.

At least 6’3″ tall, he is squatting to see his computer screen.

Everyone ELSE’s life looks “just right,” doesn’t it?
